It was a packed house with over 160 area Nurses, Social Workers, Nursing home and personal care home administrators gathered with other senior service providers and caregivers to attend this fun-filled, educational day that took place on Tuesday, May 13th at the Doubletree Hotel in Green Tree.

The morning began with Joseph Angelelli, Ph.D. Director Health Service Administration at RMU. He presented an interesting view on “Avoidable Re-hospitalizations: From Inspiration to Sustained Practice”.Bill McKendree, the Director of APPRISE, returned this year to provide an always entertaining and ex-tremely informative update on “Healthcare Reform and the Changes to Medicare”.
Julian E. Gray, CELA provided helpful information on “Veteran Benefits— Change is on the Horizon”
2014 League of Community Leaders Award Recipient Ms. Patricia Donelli (pictured center) The “LOCL” Award was presented by Jennifer Antkowiak, Spokeswoman and Advocate for CaregiverHQ. CaregiverHQ is a caregiver support system that provides guidance, resources and encouragement for caregivers. Ms. Donelli was recognized as a Community Leader for her compassion and ministry that she provides to seniors and their families through her position at PrimeTime Adult Care. Julian Gray Associates presented Ms. Donelli with a donation of $500 to go towards the services at PrimeTime Adult Care.

The afternoon started off with Katherine Pearson, Professor of Law at the Dickinson School of Law, Pennsylvania State University. She provided an explanation of “Pennsylvania, Families and Long-Term Care: Understanding Filial Support Laws”.Doctor Rollin M. Wright of UPMC Division of Geriatric Medicine (pictured left) along with Peg Chabala, Dementia Education Specialist of Asbury Heights (pictured right), returned for a second year to capture the audience with their presentation of “Demystifying Behaviors and Improving Communications with Dementia Patients”.
