Attorney Gray promoted to Chair of the Pennsylvania Supreme Court Orphans’ Court Procedural Rules Committee

We are pleased to announce that Certified Elder Law Attorney Julian Gray has been promoted to Chair of the Pennsylvania Supreme Court Orphans’ Court Procedural Rules Committee effective January 1, 2023 . The Department of the Orphan’s Court addresses matters involving decedent’s estates, trusts, wills, guardians of the persons and estates of minors and incapacitated persons, powers of attorney, termination of parental rights and adoptions, civil commitments, marriage licenses, nonprofit associations, and inheritance and estate tax matters.

On April 9, 2017 several members of the Julian Gray Associates staff joined fourteen other teams on a beautiful day at Schenley Park in Oakland to participate in the UNcathlon to benefit Special Olympics Pennsylvania (SOPA). The Julian Gray Associates team members consisted of Julian Gray, Laura Gray, Matthew T. Kikta, Colin Morgan and Jennifer Rose. Each team also had one Special Olympian. Michael Lorenzi was our Special Olympian team-mate who participated in the shot put. Michael is 40 years old and he has been with Special Olympics PA for 22 years! Some of his other favorite sporting interests include bowling, swimming and basketball. The event consisted of pull-ups, shot put, dips, a 40-yard dash, 400 meter run, 800-meter run, 20 yard shuttle run, long jump, 500-meter erg rowing along with a “mystery event”. The eleventh event was fundraising for the organization. The funds raised help to provide training & sport competitions, free of charge, for the Special Olympics athletes.

Veterans Day Overview 2014
Each year on Veterans Day, we celebrate and honor our Veterans. This year, Julian Gray started the day by attending the 16th Annual Veterans Day Breakfast hosted by the Veteran Leadership Program of Western PA. Over 700 people gathered at Duquesne University to recognize and honor our area Veterans and their families. The keynote speaker was Under Secretary Jessica L. Wright.
Later that day Julian traveled to Willow Heights in McKees Rocks where he was interviewed on KDKA Radio 1020 live with Marty Griffin regarding Veteran benefits issues. Immediately following, Julian provided a one-hour presentation as part of the Willow Heights “Senior University Program”. Approximately 80 people were in attendance to hear about the importance of understanding Veteran Benefits.

Groundbreaking ceremonies took place on Memorial Day, May 30, 2011 in Mt. Lebanon Park. The Mt. Lebanon Memorial will be built on Morgan Drive at the entrance to Mt. Lebanon Park. It will honor the service and sacrifice of all Mt. Lebanon veterans and their families. The memorial will make special note of those who gave their lives in the service of our country, by recognizing the contributions of World War II, Korean War and Vietnam War heroes. The firm’s contribution, among others, will be recognized on a permanent plaque.

Julian E. Gray has been selected as the newest member of the Special Needs Alliance.
Established in 2002, the Special Needs Alliance (SNA) is a national, non-profit collective of many of America’s leading disability and public benefits attorneys. Currently in 48 states, SNA members work to secure Medicaid and other public benefits for individuals with special needs. The SNA’s mission is to help enhance the quality of life for people with disabilities by coordinating private resources with public benefit programs through special needs planning and trusts.
Membership to SNA is selective and competitive, and is extended by invitation only. Attorneys must meet specific criteria to ensure that SNA clients are served with the utmost professionalism and compassion. Criteria include a minimum number of years of practice in the special needs area and proven involvement with disability advocacy organizations. Many SNA attorneys have personal experience with individuals with special needs—either as a sibling or parent.
Julian joins a select group of attorneys who comprise the SNA—these members serve on the boards of national, state and local organizations serving the disability community. They are current, former or incoming executive members of prominent legal and advocacy organizations such as the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, the American Bar Association, the American College of Trusts and Estates Counsel and the bar associations of their respective states.
