The Healthcare Professional’s Conference 2017 Overview

The Fifth Annual Healthcare Professional’s Conference took place on Tuesday, May 16th at the Hilton Garden Inn Pittsburgh / Southpointe. The new location was well received and we were pleased to maintain our attendance of 200 + area Nurses, Social Workers, Nursing Home and Personal Care Home Administrators along with 24 exhibitors!

Julian E. Gray, Owner of Julian Gray Associates and a Certified Elder Law Attorney, hosted the day and started off the morning talking about Estate Recovery and options for the protection of the family home.

Rebecca Plute, M.D. from Paragon Personal Healthcare discussed the controversial topic of the “doctor driven drug epidemic”.

Kate Zeman Dhupar, from Gallagher Home Health and Hospice provided very useful ideas for coping with caregiver strain.
2017 League of Community Leaders Award Recipient
Ms. Peg Chabala Positive Approach to Care
The “LOCL” (League of Community Leaders) Award was presented to Ms. Peg Chabala, for her exceptional work with patients and families dealing with dementia. Peg’s passion and mission is to help improve the quality of care for people living with dementia related illnesses.
The award was provided by M.A.S.H. (Marketing Admissions Supporting Healthcare) and presented by the Co-Chairs of the networking organization, Kerry Beck and Shandra Harcarik. Julian Gray Associates presented Peg with a donation of $500 to go to the “Chartiers Valley Education Foundation” for their special needs programming, in honor of Peg’s grandson!

Rachel Sutherland and Helene Merlo from Presbyterian SeniorCare Network provided the audience with a better understanding of the purpose and requirements for the Bundled Payment process.

Carla Matta, from HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospitals of Pittsburgh provided an entertaining and energetic presentation about Age Sensitivity.

Dr. Jonas Marry, D.C. from Family First Chiropractic was our final speaker for the day and kept everyone engaged with important information about the function of the brain and the impact on cognitive and emotional processing.
